  • Bishop is the largest city in Inyo County. It sits on U.S. Route 395, the main north-south artery that connects the Inland Empire to Reno, Nevada. U.S. 395 also connects Bishop to Los Angeles via State Route 14.

    National Geographic Adventure named Bishop one of the top 50 adventure towns in its list of best places to live & play. The city, known as the "Mule Capital of the World" holds an annual festival that attracts many tourists to the area.

    Main Street is home to numerous art galleries, antique shops, jewellery stores, fishing shops and other retailers.

    Bishop is well-known as a rock climbing community. Other popular recreational activities includes mountain biking, bouldering, camping, horseback riding, fishing along the Owens River, skiing and hiking.

    Bishop sits in the Owens Valley, between the Sierra Nevada and White Mountain ranges, the two highest in the United States. It is convenient to the Mammoth Lakes Ski Area, Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.
